About 13 km south from the
781-hors
castle hotel Black Forest lies the winter sport town Schonach, one of the most well-known
winter sport towns in the Black Forest. With its different winter sport areas it offers
varied winter sport possibilites. Nordic ski sports such as cross-country skiing, ski
jumping and ski flying as well as alpine ski sports and toboggan is offered here.
In Schonach there are two ski lifts, each about 350 meters long, which
bring the ski drivers and snowboarders to the ski slope. Besides this, a lift network with
the winter sport town Schonwald, which is about 6 km south. The ski pass is valid in both
towns. Schonach and Schonwald build a cohesive ski region. Ski departure and snowboarding
is possible on the slopes.
Amateurs or those who want to better up their know-how in ski riding or
snowboarding, can participate in a ski lesson or snowboard instruction in a ski school or
a snowboard school in Schonach. The ski teachers and snowboard teachers offer ski courses
for children and adults. Of course there's also ski rental and snowboard rental.
The winter sport area near Schonach also offers excellent conditions for
cross-country skiing. There's not only a net on cross-country ski-tracks with a total
length of about 52 km, but there's also a connection to the cross-country ski-tracks to
the ski-tracks of other winter sport regions in the Black Forest such as Schonwald,
Triberg or St. Georgen as well as to the remote ski hiking path (Fernskiwanderweg) of
Schonach to Belchen in the southern Black Forest, the second hightest mountain in the
Black Forest. Besides this, guided ski hikings are also offered.
The winter hikings on cleared winter hiking paths, sleigh rides, rides
in the winter landscape, ski jumping on two ski jumps, ski flying and toboggan also count
to the further winter sport activities which are possible in Schonach. The toboggan rail
has a lenght of about 350 meters and a depth of about 100 meters.
In order to go ice-skating, the guests of the

further away, for example in the ice sport hall in Freiburg in the Breisgau (about 48 km
